Provides incentives and financing to make solar-generated electricity accessible and affordable for all New York homeowners, renters, and businesses. Using solar can help lower energy costs compared to using conventionally generated electricity. Additional program components include training for installers and public officials, standardized permitting processes, and consumer education.

Drive Clean Rebate for Electric Cars – Open to New York State residents, Charge NY’s Drive Clean Rebate offers a point-of-sale rebate of up to $2,000 towards the purchase or lease of a new plug-in electric car. Heat pumps are a more efficient heating and cooling option that eliminate fossil fuels, can provide up to 100 percent of your heating and cooling needs, and help you save on your energy bills.

Supports the development and demonstration of low-carbon Community Thermal Systems installations in new construction and existing building retrofits.


DOT: Clean Pass Program (opens in new window)

Effective February 1, 2022, new Clean Pass vehicle stickers for single-occupant HOV lane access on the Long Island Expressway in Nassau and Suffolk counties shall only be issued to owners of Plug-In Electric and Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles. These vehicles must also be registered in New York State in order to qualify. The HOV lane may also continue to be utilized by any non-commercial vehicle with two or more occupants, buses, and motorcycles.


DOT: Green Discount Plan (opens in new window)

NYS Thruway Authority offers a 10% discount on tolls to efficient vehicles, including EVs, if they apply for a special EZ-Pass. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) and Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) offer a 10% discount on NYC bridges and tunnels at off-peak hours to the same types of vehicles.
